It may just be me or it may be how things are in the world at the moment, but it seems that the time between each new season’s clothes being paraded in the stores to the time when those fresh new styles are piled up or crammed onto sales racks to make space for yet another whole new lot is ever decreasing!
‘Must-Have for Summer/Winter!
A scant few weeks ago these clothes that are now on sale were being touted as the latest thing in magazines, listed as ‘What’s In’ and ‘Must Have’ and photographed on glamorous models.
The colours and shapes were inevitably different from those of the previous season (that’s why they feel new and appealing) and made out to be the latest and most desirable items that you’d be crazy not to have!
And now they’re on sale, looking tired, old, creased, unwanted and dated!
How quickly we forget
Sometimes I’m amazed that any of us can still be seduced by the relentless ever-changing system of fashion, but the promise of new clothes for a new season seems to bring the possibility of new hope and new opportunities, which makes them more irresistible.
Yes, the right clothes can make a huge difference to your life, but they have to be the right clothes for you. And what the fashion industry is pushing at any particular time may not be what you need.
More and more and more!
This endless consumption of goods is such a habit for so many of us that we seldom even question it. We’ve become so used to the system of never-ending recycling of fashion trends that it almost seems normal, just the way things are done.
The latest fashion shows in fabulous capital cities and the magazines and television channels that are devoted to this industry increase the hype and perpetuate the illusion that fashion is somehow something vital and important.
In a world where countless people don’t have a place to sleep or enough to eat, it’s hard to understand that any of us would occupy ourselves with fashion trends.
The right clothes can transform you
This isn’t to deny you the pleasure that comes from beautiful, authentic, comfortable clothes that fit you, suit you and make you look and feel wonderful.
It never fails to lift my spirits when I work with someone’s clothes and I see how they blossom and come to life with the right clothes. It gladdens my heart to see someone begin to glow and radiate confidence as they wear styles and fabrics that express their true self.
This is the importance of clothes and why having authentic ones is so meaningful
But this doesn’t mean that you need to be consuming more and more stuff every few months to try and keep up with the demands of fashion.
It’s rather to suggest that you know and understand yourself and the purpose of your life so well that you can choose clothes that will enhance this.
Having just what you need for your unique life can take you from where you are now to where you want to be.
An ordered wardrobe that’s right for you will uplift your spirits and give you the confidence, courage and enthusiasm to get on and make the most of your life.
